Council on Ministries, delegates challenge each other

LAKELAND — The Conference Council on Ministries’ (CCOM) session at the Dare to Share Jesus 1999 Florida Annual Conference Event covered topics ranging from the cosmic grandeur of creation to the daily operations of the CCOM. Evangelist David Lowes Watson challenged delegates to examine their evangelistic focus, while delegates challenged the CCOM on several key issues in today’s church.

Members considers report on changes in the denomination

LAKELAND — “The church must examine all its functions and structures and ask, ‘will this help us invite, disciple and nurture disciples of Jesus Christ through the local church?’ ” said Anna Gail Dixon Workman, a member of the 38-person Connectional Process Team (CPT), which is charged with “managing, guiding and promoting a transformational direction for the church.” Workman presented the preliminary draft of the CPT’s report, asking attendees at the Dare to Share Jesus 1999 Florida Annual Conference Event to offer their honest feedback.
