consider diversity, issues during election of delegates
LAKELAND - Delegates to the Dare to Share Jesus 1999 Florida
Annual Conference Event elected the 13 clergy and 13 laity who will represent the Florida
Conference at the 2000 General Conference of the United Methodist Church. While the issue
of electing a diverse delegation was of high importance to many, the conference's
delegates will face many other issues at next year's global gathering.

bishop tells delegates to preach to cows
LAKELAND - One of the most popular sessions at the Dare to Share Jesus 1999
Florida Annual Conference Event was the sermon during which Ricardo Pereira, bishop of the
Methodist Church in Cuba, shared stories of faith, conversion and obedience to God.
"Even when you do not understand what God wants you to do, you should do what God

Delegates debate, vote on 18 resolutions
LAKELAND - Should the United Methodist Church
advertise on television? Should the church take action addressing suicide among homosexual
teens? Should all conference-sponsored events provide for complete participation by
