Cabinet
begins annual process of filling pulpits
Florida Conference Bishop Cornelius L.
Henderson recently began his annual task of appointing pastors to 747 churches and
missions throughout the conference.
"It is a process that is done with a great deal of prayer and
consideration for the persons and congregations," said Keith Ewing, the bishop's
administrative assistant, adding that the bishop and cabinet are "a realistic group
of folks who try to operate in Christian mercy and charity." Full Story

Five districts receive new
superintendents
Bishop Cornelius L. Henderson announced the appointment of five new
district superintendents Feb. 23 at a meeting of the Florida Conference Cabinet. The new
superintendents replace two who are retiring, one interim and two who are accepting other
appointments within the conference.
Henderson said the new class of district superintendents brings a high
level of commitment to the United Methodist church and its connectional system. Each one
received "extremely high marks from their district superintendents," he said,
adding he checks into the service of potential superintendents before approaching them
about the appointment. Full

Man hears God's call through
disasters
Ward
Veith, a member of Orlando's Pine Castle United Methodist Church, says he is amazed at how
God has used him in ways he did not anticipate. "Here I am, my background is in
accounting and I have a degree in finance, and I'm building houses," he said.
"It's not about special skills, it's about being here
it's all grace."
Veith has been supervising the rebuilding of Orlando area houses since
1998 when a string of tornadoes killed 42 Central Floridians and damaged hundreds of
homes. Full Story
